She was predeceased by: her parents, Ted Hughes (Mother Dicie Hughes) and Dicie Hughes; her son Ricky Messer; her husband Franklin Messer; her granddaughter Kimberly White; her siblings, Catherine Cox, Reed Hughes, Calvin Hughes and Arnold Hughes; and her parents-in-law, Sarah Waters and Frank Waters.
She is survived by: her daughters, Deborah Heller (Chai Heller) of Sebastian and Beverly White of Fort Pierce; her grandchildren, Robert Nolan (Valeria Nolan), Edwin Peterson, Irby White, Michael Messer, Savanah White and Courtnie Heller; her great grandchildren, Lily and Liam Nolan; her siblings, Sue Nunn (Jerry Nunn) of Acworth, GA and Ronald Hughes (Bonnie Hughes) of Ellijay, GA; and her sister-in-law Yvonne Whalen of Vero Beach. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
