With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joyce Ellen Shorts of Satsuma, Florida, born in Washington, District of Columbia, who passed away on November 23, 2022 at the age of 79. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Joyce Ellen Shorts to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her husband Arthur "Tom" Shorts (William "Gus" Whirley); her parents, Ruth DeVers and Herbert DeVers; her daughter Joyanna Shorts; her brother Terry DeVers; and her grandson Thomas Boyette.
She is survived by: her daughters, Penny Merson (Lucky) of Scaggsville, MD and Tracy Shorts Winchester of Jesup, GA; her sister Joanne Oswaald; and her grandchildren, Melanie Merson-Riley (Tom), Tiffany Merson, Virginia Merson-Keys (Jay), Tyler Boyette (Amber), Ciara Gilley (Trey) and Dalton Lane. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
For the safety of immune compromised family members it is requested for those who approach the family during the visitation to please wear a mask.
