He was predeceased by: his former wife Wendy Gates (Hyson). He is survived by: his wife Paula Gates (Ceglowski); his children, Ryan Gates (Shauna) of Clermont, FL, Dyana Nickl (Michael) of Sturbridge, MA and Adam Gates (Jenna) of Danvers, MA; and his brother Robert Gates (Patricia) of Lynn, MA. He is also survived by grandchildren and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Miles Funeral Home (1158 Main St, Holden, MA 01520). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (346 Shrewsbury St, Holden, MA 01520).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in Richard's honor, a cause close to his heart.
