Drew A Ohleyer Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Drew Alexander James Ohleyer, a beloved son, brother, and friend. Drew was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 6, 1993, and passed away in Sarasota Florida on January 2, 2025. Drew was a kind, funny, and passionate individual whose academic achievements were a testament to his intelligence, hard work, and determination. His desire to bridge communication gaps led Drew to study sign language for four years, beginning in high school, and his deep empathy for others guided him to social work.
Drew graduated summa cum laude from FAU with a Bachelor's degree in Social work (BSW), and went on to earn a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) as well, where he focused his energy on helping those who needed it most. Drew's unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others was evident in everything that he did. He demonstrated a genuine desire to lift others up, especially those who were struggling. Drew had a remarkable ability to help people find their way back to happiness, offering not just guidance, but a listening ear, kindness, and support during their darkest times. Whether working with individuals facing personal challenges or advocating for a better future for those in need, he approached each task with dedication and a deep understanding of the need for kindness in humanity.
Outside of his professional life, Drew was a constant source of support for his friends. Always willing to lend a hand, he made himself available to those who needed advice, assistance, or simply a compassionate presence. His kindness, generosity, and selflessness created lasting bonds and left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Drew is survived by his mother- Jennifer Ford, father- Spencer Ohleyer, sister- Marissa Lennon and niece- Journie Lennon, as well as tons of family and friends who love him and will miss him greatly.
A memorial 'Celebration of Life' service will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Venice Beach in Florida. Drew's life may have been cut short, but his impact on the world will be felt for many years to come. Rest in peace, Drewie. You will forever be in our hearts. We love you!
