He was predeceased by: his parents, Katherine Vaessen and Sylvester Vaessen; his wife Janet Vaessen (Wattman); and his siblings, Wayne and Clara.
He is survived by: his children, Tess, John (Tracy) of Elgin and Robert (Jennifer) of Gurnee; his grandchild Blair; his siblings, Jackie, Kathy and Ted; his nephew Tom; and his great-nephew Robert.
