He was predeceased by: his parents, Brooks Wilson and Gladys Williams Wilson; his wives, Elfriede Wilson and Linda Wilson; and his brother Floyd Wilson.

He is survived by: his children, Johnnie Wilson, Jr. (Gwyn), Paul Wilson (Anna Marie), Matthew Wilson (Tammie) and Michael Wilson (Bonnie); his grandchildren, Benjamin Wilson, Thomas Wilson, Jordan Wilson, Sophie Wilson, Blake Wilson, Emma Wilson and Clarice Wilson; and his siblings, Eddie Wilson, Frank Wilson, Barbara Chaite, Dyrene Wilson, Geraldine Wilson and Dora Wilson.
