He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schafer and Ruth Schafer (Hughes); his brother Edward; and his parents-in-law, Josephine Foley and John Foley.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila (Foley); his children, John Schafer (Eva), Mary Driskel (Jerry), Deborah Hilbourn (Jerry) and Kate Barnes (Nate); his grandchildren, Jeff Driskel (Tarin), Jason Driskel (Erin), Ryan Gulledge (Bryce), Jay Hilbourn (Tori) of Daniel Hilbourn, P. J, Barnes and Maura Hilbourn; his great grandchildren, Jensen, Jr. and Jace Driskel; his brothers, Bob Schafer (Bonnie) and TeeDee Schafer (Denise); his uncle Darryl Hughes; his siblings-in-law, Mary Lou Bergeron and Tom Foley; his nieces and nephews, Karen, Connie, Jean, Andrea, Tony, Mary, Rob, Tim, Lisa, Doug, Kristy, Sean, Kimberly and Jeremy; his siblings-in-law, Margaret Russell, Lonnie Foley, Cindy Schafer, Lucien Bergeron and Norman Russell; and his nephew Gerry Bergeron.
