He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Starling and Effie Mae Starling (Sweat); and his siblings, Rev. Neil Starling, Doris Burnham and Geraldine Rottenberry.
He is survived by: his wife Bettie Starling (Gilchrist) of Sanderson; and his children, Dewey "Buddy" Starling, Jr. of Sanderson, Donna Sue Hayes of Anchorage, Alice Lynette McDonald (Robert) of Mt. Vernon, Lamar Starling (Joie) of Pinson and Chris Starling (Bobbie) of Sanderson. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family.
