He was predeceased by: his wife Jacquline Hinkle Bauerlein; and his sister Betty Thomas. He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth (Justin Johnson), Brenda (Tim Kalal), E. Joseph III (Nancy) and Charles. He is also survived by his four children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Over the years, he made significant contributions to the field, working for various local engineering firmsbefore establishing his own firm, E. J. Bauerlein, Consulting Engineer, in St. Petersburg in 1969.
