With profound sadness, we say goodbye to June Joan Mathews of Saint Augustine, Florida, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. Theodore S. Mathews Sr.; her parents, Peter Slawuta and Anastasia Slawuta; and her sisters, Olga and Stella.
She is survived by: her children, Theodore S. Mathews, Jr. (Patti L. Roskill), Stephen P. Mathews (Rebecca L. Walters), Catherine A. Girard (Wayne A. Schmidt) and Carol A. Burroughs (Charles C. Burroughs); and her grandchildren, Stephen P. Mathews, Jr., Anastasia L. Mathews, Joseph T. Girard, Gabrielle G. Girard, Peter N. Burroughs and Dena N. Burroughs.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Nelsen Funeral Home (3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be gifted to Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church and/or St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church.
