He was predeceased by: his parents, James Dabney Gilliam and Hazel McDaniel Gilliam; his siblings, John Leslie Gilliam and Nancy Gilliam Osborne (JoAnn Wright Gilliam); and his son James William Gilliam, Jr. (Josh).
He is survived by: his daughter Julie Caligan-Gilliam of Greenville, SC; his granddaughters, Sarah Gilliam of Atlanta, Lily Caligan-Gilliam of Greenville, SC. and Caroline Caligan-Gilliam of Greenville, SC.; and his wife JoAnn.
