He was predeceased by: his parents, Junior B. Smith and Lillian M. Smith; and his stepson Richard Cordis (Rick). He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Liz" Cordis; his brother Gary Smith; his children, Michael Smith, Jaclyn Grohmann (Kyle Grohmann) and Steven Smith (Sheryl Smith); his stepdaughter Alison Dettling (Robert Dettling); his uncle Charles "Charlie" Anderson; his nephews, Nicola Laudati (Nick) and Roberto Laudati (Robby); his cousins, Lynne Miqueli (Oscar Migueli) and Steven Hoffman (Ann Hoffman); and his grandsons, Andrew Maag, Aiden Grohmann, Blake Grohmann and Jeremy Smith.
He was a past President of the Royal Palm Beach Jaycees from 1988 – 1997 and was an integral part of the donation and restoration of a village owned building to be used as the home and clubhouse of the Jaycees.
