He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillard Clive Potter and Dorothy Ledbetter Potter. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Holland Potter; his children, Richard Potter, Jr. (Maura) and Julie Gardner (Jeff); and his grandchildren, Maggie Potter McNeal, Michael Stites, Jr., Carolyn Potter, Zachary Stites, Kristen Potter Stansell and Tara Gardner Harrison. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
