She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Heusinkveld and Frances Heusinkveld; her siblings, Beverly Bloemendaal and Claire Heusinkveld; and her husband John Griffin.
She is survived by: her children, Kathy (John Clark) and Tim (Mary Kolhagen); and her grandsons, Max and Alex.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Smithsonian Institution in Karen's name.
