He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee and Elzie B. Pressley Dunson; his brothers, Alvin Jones, Roland Jones, Winston Dunson and Robert Myron Dunson; and his son James "Jimmy" Dunson, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Caroline Casey Dunson; his daughters, Cheryl McClure (John McClure) and Yvonne Peters; and his siblings, Mary Cox and George Dunson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Jim's honor directly to the Georgia Patriot Guard and/or the Florida Patriot Guard who are honoring him with a full escort from Georgia to Florida.
