He was predeceased by: his parents, James Richard and Jewell Meenach Shears; his children, Robert Earl Shears and Irene Elizabeth Shears; his granddaughter Heather Mae Shears; and his sister Norma Shears Savage.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Adamik Shears; his sons, William Richard Shears of Endicott, NY and David Allen Shears of Little Meadows, PA; his stepson Richard B. Oliver (Ashley); and his siblings, Donald Shears (Sonja) of Grayson, KY, Charles Shears (Debbie) of Paducah, KY, Barbara Workman (Robert) of Greenup, KY, Wanda Shears of Lexington, KY and Vivian Bailey (Pat) of Grayson, KY. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
