He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Jackson Herring and Iva Mae Herring. He is survived by: his wife Pamela Herring; his children, Gary Herring (Shannon) and Holly Smith (Justin); his grandchildren, Jessica Smith (Quentin), Justin "Jay" Smith, Jr. and Sydney Herring; his great grandchildren, Kanon and Kopelan "KJ" Smith; his sisters, Carla Mathis (Chick) and Judy Williams (Rick); his nieces, Mandy Olson, Alyson Gerlach (Justin) and Lindsay Williams; and his nephew Kevin Mathis (Lori).
