He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Thomas Howard, Sr. and Sallie Lou King Howard; and his siblings, Martin Thomas Howard, Jr. and Catherine Howard Davis. He is survived by: his sister Patricia Howard James of Miami Springs; his son John Patrick Howard, Jr; and his wife Cynthia Allen Howard. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
