He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Smither and Flossie Bryant Smither; his son Joseph Keith Smither; his granddaughter Heather Smither; and his siblings, Basil, Burrell, Richard, Harold, Buel, Curtis, Vanus Smither, Burrneatha Edwards, Velma Walls, Wanda Ponder and Juanita Smither.
He is survived by: his wife Lillian Atwood Smither; his daughter Juanita Carol Smither; his siblings, Gary Smither (Jean), Steven Smither (Judy) and Javana Short (Mike); and his pet Lucy. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
