Joan L. Sheridan Obituary
Joan Lindeman Sheridan entered into her heavenly home to be with Jesus on May 30, 2024 in the presence of family. There will be a Mass at Epiphany Catholic Church , 201 Lafayette Street, Port Orange, Florida, on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 at 1:00PM. Joan was born on March 17, 1932 in Syracuse, New York. She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and Syracuse University.
Joan then taught in the Syracuse Public Schools for a number of years before moving with her husband Frank T. Sheridan and their children to their home on Lake Ontario outside of Pulaski, New York. In 1977 they moved to Port Orange, Florida, where Joan volunteered with the Welcome Wagon and Port Orange Hospice as well as working at the Green Sheet Newspaper.
Joan was a very active volunteer at Epiphany Catholic Church and participated in forming the Epiphany Thrift Store (originally St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and Help Center), which she then co-managed for several years. She was a lay minister to the sick, lector, and sacristan at Epiphany Catholic Church. For several years Joan was on the Board of Catholic Social Services in Daytona, Florida and helped established a thrift store for them.
In 2000 she and Frank moved to Ormond Beach, Florida. Following her husband's death, Joan returned to Port Orange in 2012. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as RV camping on the St. Lawrence River in Upstate New York. She also spent countless hours fishing, gardening, and going to flea markets. Her lifetime passion was arts and crafts and she particularly loved teaching and doing watercolor painting as well as quilting. Joan is survived by her brother Robert F. Lindeman (Judy) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter Patricia J. Sheridan of Alexandria, Virginia; son Frank T. Sheridan (Linda), of Port Orange, Florida; daughter Kathleen S. West (William), of Williamstown, New Jersey; and daughter Michele W. Codling (Kent), of Bunnell, Florida. Grandsons Christopher Watson, Matthew West (Cori), Gregory Sheridan (Erika) and Neil Sheridan; granddaughter Jessica Houser (Kyle); and great-grandchildren Isabella, Ava, Matthew, Connor, Everett, and Oliver.
