He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Schaaf and Sophie Schaaf; his brother William Schaaf; his aunt Evelyn; his uncle Vernon Schaaf; and his mother-in-law Marianne Cheseldine.
He is survived by: his wife Bridget M. Schaaf; his son Sean Cavey (Mikayla Sagstetter); his father-in-law Joseph R. Cheseldine; his siblings-in-law, Joseph Cheseldine, III and Katie Cheseldine-Turner (Darren Schaffer); his nephews, Robert J. Hartman (Charlie Adkins) and William Turner; and his niece Kathleen Cheseldine.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Dave's name to the American Legion Post 130 in Overly-Perryhall, Maryland.
