She is survived by: her parents, Thomas Merlo and Korlis Merlo; her son Thomas Phelps; her husband Jan-Hein Phelps; her daughter Eva; and her brother Michael.

A memorial service was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church (545 A1A N #545, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Bit of Faith Ranch, located in Ponte Vedra, providing horseback riding and recreational events for those impacted by autism.

“I am so saddened to hear of this. I connected in person in Dec 2023, after covid, @ a BK 1991 gathering. As always, she was her usual sweet, smiling, wonderful person to chat with that night. I did not get to know her well in our BK days but feel as if I got to know her thru FB as adults. I loved watching the kids grow up and her posting photos of achievements & events with such pride as a mom would do. Godspeed to the kids and family at this terribly difficult time. May you all find peace.”
