He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Minnie Louise Martin; his children, Debra Bethel (Duncan), Jacqueline Lee (Dylan), Sherry Holmes (Darrell), Patricia Hall (Byron), Angela Walters (Darren), KayTrina Allen, Marvin Marshall, Mack Martin Jr., Gregory Marshall (Yvonne), Walter Martin (Sharon), Robert Marshall, Todd Martin and Richard Allen (Tamiko); his siblings, Aretha Martin, Barbara Permentor, Gloria Bryant (Alvin), Marie Martin, Margaret Underwood (Daniel), Diane Woodson, Bernice Martin, Willie Martin (Veronica), Richard Martin and Paul Martin; and his goddaughters, Nicole Bee-Williams and Veneka Lindsey. He was also cherished by 34 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren.
