He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Kendra of Vermont; his siblings, Edith Wright and William Wright; and his parents, Charles Leon Smith and Mabel Cline Wright Chuck.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Tricia" Oliver-Smith; his children, Michael Smith (Penelope), Cynthia Akers Gerber and Trinidad Smith; his stepdaughters, Carla Burtless and Christy (Marc) of Vermont; his grandchildren, Olivia Turnbull-Smith, Christopher Akers, Claire Akers, Benjamin Akers, Isaac Smith-Lewis, Laila of Vermont and Kenley of Vermont; his nieces and nephews, Troy Franklin Barton (Jennifer), Lisette Barton, Natalie Barton Amores (Eleazar), Jason Wright and Richard Wright; his stepmother Rita Smith; and his half-brother Keith Smith (Joni).
