He was predeceased by: his wife Darla Kennedy; his parents, Ben Kennedy and Mary Kennedy; and his sister Beth Massey. He is survived by: his daughter Alma "Ali" Kennedy (Christopher Sapp); his stepdaughter Amber Sheffield of Wasilla, AK; his sister Rosalee; his brother-in-law Jacky Holbrook of Easley, SC; and his grandchildren, Coby Kennedy, Kayla Jean Sheffield, Corey Sheffield and Ryan Cole Hamilton Hicks. He is also survived by three nephews; and a niece.
