He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Brunner and Virginia Brunner; his brother Riggs Brunner; his son Dean Brunner; and his son-in-law Larry Poole.

He is survived by: his wife Marcia "Marci" Brunner; his children, Dawn Lindsay (Bill), Steven Wachter (Laurie), Patti Gehring (Jeff "Chuck"), Brian Wachter (Shelly) and Wendy Poole; his grandchildren, Kyle Gehring (Amy), Lacey Flaim (Dario), Ridge Poole (Sunshine), Ryan Gehring, Dayne Craig, Emma Wachter, Kameron Wachter and Abbey Wachter; and his great grandchildren, Vincenzo and Daria Flaim.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to Gabriel House of Care, 4599 Worral Way, Jacksonville, Florida 32224 (located on the Mayo Clinic Campus).
