He was predeceased by: his former wife Delores Petty (Duncan); his sons, Dexter Wayne Petty and Jerry Dean Petty; his parents, James Wallace Petty and Marybell Petty; and his brother Joseph Raymond Petty.
He is survived by: his wife Dottie Petty (Hardeman) of Dover, Florida; his son Edwin Petty of Bartow, Florida; his brothers, William M Petty (Washington) and Jimme David Petty (Lisa); and his stepchildren, Steven Hardeman (Mildred), Regina Swindal (Dwane) and Jeff Hardeman (Stephanie). He is also survived by 4 step grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
