He was predeceased by: his wife Millie; his parents, George Ehring and Margaret Ehring; his siblings, George, Edward Ehring (Connie), Gloria (Bob), Helen and Annette 'Babe' (Joseph); and his grandson Logan A. Penzabene.
He is survived by: his children, Carolee Whitman (Brian), Daniel Ehring (Jami), Amy Penzabene (Frank), Dr. Patricia Ehring-Jarmolych (William) and Dr. James Ryan (Sharon); his grandchildren, Sean (Clorissa), Chad and Shelby Whitman; his children, Madison, Raegan Ehring, Tanner, Zachary, Cooper Penzabene, Nicholas, Samantha, Jacqueline, Joshua, Spencer Jarmolych, Michele and William Ryan; and his great grandchild Flynn A. Whitman. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
