He was predeceased by: his parents, Winnie Spears and Granville Spears; and also Winnie Spears. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Spears; his siblings, Darrell Spears and Susie Pierce; his children, Vanisa Spears Tilka, Teresa Spears Bord and James "Jimmy" E. Spears Jr. (Michelle); and his aunt Shirley Stone. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren.
