She is survived by: her sisters, Dolores Turner and Glenna Howell; her son Mark Smithson; her daughter-in-law Lori; her granddaughter Brandi Smithson; her daughter Tracy Nelson; and her grandchildren, Nikki Nelson (Nicole) and Mark Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Doris's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
