She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Edgar Courtney and Mattie Catherine Freeman Courtney; her husband Jesse Lawton Whiddon; her children, Sheila Dianne Whiddon-Ratliff and Eddie Whiddon; and her siblings, Marjorie Denmark, Jimmie Lee Thomas, Shirley Inez Tyler and Joe Courtney.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Michelle Ratliff-Shiver (Jimmie), Shelby Whiddon-Watson and James Ratliff, Jr. (Pattie); her stepsons, Bob Baker (Janet) and Bill Baker (Robyn); her daughter-in-law Mary Whiddon; and her siblings-in-law, Stan Tyler, Sr. and Claudette Courtney. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations in her honor may be made to First Baptist Church.
