He was predeceased by: his former wife Patricia Chavis; his parents, Charlie Chavis and Willie Mae Chavis; his sons, Charles Edward Chavis Jr. and Kim Alden Chavis; his son-in-law Charles Buzbee; his grandsons, Buddy Buzbee and Robert Charles Chavis; his brother Jerry Chavis; and his brother-in-law Bill Rogers.
He is survived by: his wife Margarett Lartigue Chavis; his children, Patsy (Kenneth Nall), Lourinda Wood, Tami Buzbee, Keith (Patty Chavis) and Steven (Annette Chavis); his stepchildren, Paul, Michele Lartigue, Roger and Holli Lartigue; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Rogers and Betty Passet. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 7 great-greatgrandchildren.
