Michael & Jennifer Lohr lit a candle

“We met Carolyn in New Orleans in 2005, rescuing animals side by side in the weeks following Hurricane Katrina. After several grueling days filled with losses, wins, laughs and tears, Carolyn became dear to us. Fiercely committed to helping animals and compassionate to the owners. Effective at facilitating logistics with local vets and shelters. And she cared for and fostered our Lucky Dawg, rescued from NOLA who’s still with us today. Lucky loves you, Carolyn, and so do we. Thank you and RIP.”

Michael Walsh lit a candle

“In loving memory of Carolyn A. Brendemuehl, Someone so special will not be forgotten. Carolyn was a friend and mentor and the first to ultrasound a baby dolphin in utero. She with Frank Pipers helped to inspire me to use technology that was not widely applied and made me a better veterinarian who has helped thousands of animals because then I knew like her I could. She made a difference. Mike Walsh”

Michelle Van Dusen wrote a sympathy message

“I waited until Jim McGrail's death to write this. Jim and I were sign friends. I tried to befriend Carolyn to no avail. The last time I saw Jim on business Carolyn saw me and she purposely opened the office door to release an agressive Pitbull on me. I was bitten. I wanted to sue her BUT because I was on Jim's property he would have been co-defendant. Out of friendship for Jim I didn't pursue it. Carolyn wasn't a nice person. She was petty, jealous, mean and used an animal as a weapon.”

Vicki Bennett wrote a sympathy message

“I met Carolyn in 1978 or 1979. It was her first day working at Ocala Vet and it was my first day as a technician. We became very good friends and she taught me so much. She was a wonderful caring person and a great veterinarian. We lost track of each other after we left Ocala Vet but she has always held a special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. Vicki Bennett”
