He was predeceased by: his parents, Marjorie Bledsoe Merritt and Bruce Merritt, Sr.; his brother-in-law Bob Wiscombe; and his wife Anna Layne Merritt. He is survived by: his siblings, Edye Merritt Lau (Jeremy), Susan Wiscombe, Ginger Goldbach, Bruce Merritt, Jr. (Jerri) and Bert Merritt (Nicole); and his stepdaughter Brittain Layne. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
