He was predeceased by: his parents, James Knox and Evia Iola Powell; and his wife Melba Knowles Powell. He is survived by: his children, Barry Powell (Joni) and Susan Payne (Ronnie); his grandchildren, Brian Powell and Elizabeth Powell; and his children, Allison Payne Shaw (Spencer) and Avery Payne.
