He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Franklin and Florence Sumpter; and his brothers, Louis Jr. and Raymond Sumpter. He is survived by: his wife Carmen Sumpter; his daughters, Melanie Barr and Michelle Hager (Eric); his grandchildren, Dylan, Kelsey Barr, Emily and Hailey Hager; and his brother Ralph Sumpter. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, November 27th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the South Florida Va National Cemetery (6501 N State Rd 7, Coconut Creek, FL 33073).
