She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Newsome and Ruby Newsome. She is survived by: her husband Joel; her children, Denise Simonson (David Blain), Inga Brown (Garrett Brown) and Kip Creel (James Jones); her grandchild Lauryn Hollis; her great grandchildren, Kane and Memphis Simonson; and her sister-in-law Deborah Creel.
To those wishing to honor Sylvia's love of children, the family requests donations to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
