She was predeceased by: her parents, Utakichi Akaishi and Satoko Akaishi (Tachibana); her husband Donald L. Benton; and her siblings, Takashi, Masashi, Kazushi and Measao.

She is survived by: her children, John (Peggy), Cliff, Clay (Kathey) and Sonya (John); her grandchildren, Eva, Tessa, Alex, Jack and JC; her siblings, Shinako Kozuma and Kiyomi Akaishi; her nephew Satoshi Akaishi; and her niece Emi Okamura.
