He is survived by: his stepdaughters, Angel N. Fernandez, Lora A. Wadman and Amanda Gardner (Eric); his stepgrandchildren, Ryan A. Yafanaro, Arianna R. Vernon, Hailey M. Olafsen, Daniel O. Merkel, Anthony E. Merkel (Brittany) and Christopher A. Murphy; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Alison Merkel and Harper Merkel.
