He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Ambus and Eda Adams Smith; his son Billy Meredith Smith; and also, Linda Johnson Peuhs, Thomas Johnson and John Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Johnson Smith; his children, Dean Smith (Amy), A. Marlon Smith and Michele Smith Hetzel (Randolph); his grandchildren, Nycole Hetzel Sitte (Chaz) and Chaz Jr.; his children, Cassidy Hetzel Bancroft (Douglas), Raegan, Dylan, Jonathan Hetzel (Angela), Travis Hetzel (Samantha) and Tessy Marie Hetzel; his great grandchildren, Christopher Davis (Jamie), Madeline, Tucker and Joseph; his grandchildren, Matthew Smith (Katherine), Owen, Nolan, Michele Smith Campbell (Brian), Melissa and Bo; and his siblings, Carol Grimes, Vivian Stewart, Marion Smith (Kathleen) and Michael Smith (Barbara). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (3640 State Ave, Panama City, FL 32405). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
