Rodney Leroy Smith Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rodney Leroy Smith (Panama City Beach, Florida), born in Mobile, Alabama, who passed away on February 26, 2020, at the age of 62. Rodney was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Estelle Smith. Rodney is survived by his children (Maison Scott Smith, Jayson Matthew Smith and Daisy Autumn Cline) and his 7 grandchildren.

He married Lauri Ann Smith (who died on April 19, 2020) on July 2, 1982. He loved to travel and made it his goal to travel to every state park in Alabama. He loved to fish, sing, play guitar, driving and being on the beach.

He dreamed of being a truck driver and ended up getting his CDL in 2002. He was always cracking jokes and he believed that there was no problem that couldn't be fixed with music. Him and his daughter loved singing together.

He was the type of person who tried to help people often and made a friend everywhere he went. He, on several occasions, talked about the "driving gene" he passed on to his children and was really proud when he found his son, Maison had inherited it. He bonded with his son on just about everything including the movie "Smokey and the Bandit".

He taught his sons to protect their sister and Maison always has. He taught them to treat women with respect and find humor in even life's biggest problems. He was never too shy to show the world how much he loved his wife and constantly mentioned how she was always the most beautiful woman in the room.

He was proud of his children and told everyone he came in contact with so. His children will be having a private service and they will scatter their ashes. No donations or flowers are needed.
