He is survived by: his wife Blanchie June Smith (Mercer); his children, Johnnie Smith (Kim Smoot Smith) of Fairhope and Christal Rabbe of DeFuniak Springs; his grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Jonathan Rabbe and Jacob Rabbe; and his great grandchildren, Matthew, Weston, Maverick and Luke.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Shriner's Children's Hospital or to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of John Edward Smith.
