With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James A Sawyer of Panama City Beach, Florida, born in Macon, Georgia, who passed away on August 27, 2024 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Walter and Nell Reeves Sawyer; his wife Wareen Robinson Sawyer; his son James Gregory Sawyer; and his siblings, Lynne Reeves Robertson, Tom Joseph Sawyer and Robert Ricks Sawyer.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Miranda Garcia of Washington State, Robinson McCoy Sawyer (Cameran) of Kingsland, GA, Jamie Suzanne Sawyer of Neptune Beach, FL, Ashley Turner McGlothren of Pace, FL, Hillary Turner Brewster (Stanley) of Chipley, FL and Emily Francis Turner of DeFuniak Springs, FL; and his great grandchildren, Connor McCarthy, Taylor Sawyer, Madison McGlothren, Ann Marie Brewster, Charlotte Sawyer and Tripp Sawyer. He is also survived by many loving family members, relatives and friends.
After Walmart announced changes in the job description for its Greeters, he was offered a job with Culver's on Panama City Beach greeting their diners; however, after COVID affected local businesses and restaurants, James decided to officially retire at the young age of 81... but not for long.
