Maureen A. Keener Obituary

Keener, Maureen A., 84, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away on August 20, 2024. Maureen was born in Brooklyn, New York and had lived on Long Island, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Her last place of residence was St. Mark Village in Palm Harbor, Florida since September 2021. Maureen was a graduate of Oceanside High School, New York, and attended Classes at Hofstra University. Her years of employment would include Northeast Airlines (2 years) as an Airline Stewardess years after graduation from high school. Later, after the children were out of high school, her years of experience as a volunteer at Morristown Memorial Hospital, at the front desk, enabled her to work for many doctors. She also started her own business, Happy Hour Purses. Her company converted cigar boxes into fashionable decorative purses and souvenir collecting boxes marketed in many craft fairs. While in Florida she also was a volunteer at Florida Hospital Pinellas County.

During her active years she volunteered for many worthwhile organizations. While participating with PTA she was very active with many of her children's programs. She would volunteer many hours at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, New Jersey. Being an active mother, she would help with bingo as a fundraiser for Bayley Ellard High School. Maureen was always ready to help.

She was predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Maureen (nee Nash) Montgomery, of Palm Harbor, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Keener Sr. of 62 years. She was the devoted mother to four daughters and one son, and their spouses: Heather and Amado Arce of Montgomery, New York; Robin and George Stinson of Fairless Hill, Pennsylvania; Aurora and George Selah of Freehold, New Jersey; Leslie of Palm Harbor, Florida; and Eugene and Patricia Keener Jr. of Bernardsville, New Jersey; six grandchildren, David and Chelsea Ricker, Avril and Ashley Selah, Ella and Abigail Keener.
