Joseph Hervé Arsenault Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of J. Hervé Arsenault, Palm Harbor, Fl, (formerly Pompano Beach, Fl, Holliston, MA), Hervé passed away peacefully after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer, on August 3, 2021, at the age of 91 .
He had a long-standing relationship with God and was very blessed with his faith.
Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on December 27, 1929. Hervé was one of 13 children including a twin brother, all the boys were named Joseph and the girls Marie… so they all were known by their middle names.
In October 1948 at the age of 18 and 10 months he and his twin brother Henri entered the Navy during the Korean conflict. When Hervé was discharged in October 1952, using the GI Bill he entered the New Bedford Institute of Technology (now UMass Dartmouth Campus) where he majored in textiles. He worked at his trade here in the United States until his marriage in June of 1956, when he and his bride Rachelle moved to Valley Field, Canada to work in the textile industry for 6 years. Returning back to the States and moving to Holliston, MA he worked for the Dept of the Army working at Natick Lab, Natick, MA until his retirement in 1988. In 1993 they moved to Pompano Beach, Fl to enjoy their retirement years.
In September 2017 Hervé was selected to participate in the Honor Flight Program which brings war veterans to Washington DC for the day to honor them for their service. From that time on his Korean Veteran Cap became a constant part of his daily attire.
Hervé is survived by his younger brother Rene (Archie) of Fairhaven, MA.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Rachelle (Charbonneau) Arsenault; his parents, Andre and Leonie (Gaudet) Arsenault; his brothers: Emile, Tilmon (Timmy), Armand, Ernest, Gerard (Gerry), Leo, Henri (his twin), Roger; his sisters: Germaine (Ginger) Giroux, Bertha (Betty) Marcotte, Lea Robida and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to his niece Joanne (Charbonneau) Gonet and her husband Fred Gonet for being there for him after his beloved Rachelle passed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 10am on August 31 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Oakland Park, Fl.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at St Gabriel Church Pompano following the Mass
Hervé will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens North, Pompano, FL at a later date!
