He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Jo McGarry; and his daughter Ericka Lloyd. He is survived by: his wife Angel McGarry; his father James McGarry Sr.; and his brothers, Gerard and William. He is also survived by his wife, family, and friends.

As his health waivered, he devoted his efforts to raising funds for the National Kidney Foundation to help others afflicted as he was.
