He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard "Blackie" Deffenbaugh and Rose Escalada Lemasters; his son Ross Deffenbaugh; and his brothers, Cary Deffenbaugh and Howard Deffenbaugh.

He is survived by: his sisters, Mary Lemasters and Anna Dear; his wife Virginia Diloretta Deffenbaugh (Ginny); his sons, Jacob Deffenbaugh (Dina) of Michigan City, MS and Marshall Lee Tempest (Rachel Hibbs) of Pittsburgh, PA.; his grandchildren, Jaden Deffenbaugh and Austin Deffenbaugh; his siblings, Harold Lemasters and Dorothy Williams (Terry); and his sister-in-law Sylvia Deffenbaugh.
