He was loved and cherished by many people including: his former wife Martha J. Maher (Sheehan); his wife Elizabeth G. Montgomery Maher; his children, Tracy A. Fowler of Maynard and Daniel T. Maher of Dedham; his stepchildren, Kristian M. Pedersen of Wallingford, VT and Kurt R. Montgomery of Spring Hill, FL.; his grandchildren, Ian Fowler, Adam Fowler, Will Fowler, Cooper Maher, Taylor Place, Madeline Pedersen, Logan Montgomery, William Pedersen, Jonathan Pedersen, Robert Pedersen and Mary Pedersen; his sister Mary Ellen White (Maher) of Rutland, MA; his pet Chia; and his parents, Joseph P. Maher and Alice G. Maher. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
