He was predeceased by: his wife Marguerite Bruso Courtney; his parents, Richard T. Courtney and Marguerite Dubois Courtney; and his siblings, Richard T. Jr., Edward, Eugene Courtney, Louise O'Keefe, Marguerite T. Soutra and Eleanor Toker.

He is survived by: his sisters, Jane Courtney Royer of East Templeton, MA and Paula Courtney Bouthiller of Oxford, MA.; his children, Virginia Courtney (Duncan MacCourt) of Woburn, MA, James Courtney (Cheryl) of Onset, MA, Marguerite J. Courtney of Redondo Beach, CA, Elizabeth Courtney Blake (Jon) of West Hartford, CT, Angela Courtney of Palm Beach, FL, Victoria Courtney (Candice Gaudinier) and Nicholas Courtney (Harmony) of Foxboro, MA.; his grandchildren, James P., Meghan, Charles, Hannah, Theodore, Stella Courtney, Isabella Blake and Ian MacCourt; and his great grandchildren, Giovanni, Emmanuel Lopez, Elise and James T. Courtney. He is also survived by his many neighbors, friends and family.
