It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Russell West of Palm Bay, Florida, born in Brooklyn, Maryland, who passed away on August 19, 2024, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though John Russell may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Elbert West and Mary Alice West (Pitts); and his sisters, Dorothy Ann Mitchell and Dinah Mae Upton. He is survived by: his wife Kate A. West; and his sister Peggy West Griner (Gary). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; two stepsons; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John's request is that donations be made to Chesapeake Safe Harbor, 141 South East Street, Amherst, Massachusetts, 01002 to help with the rescue and care of many fur children who need love and good homes: Chesapeake Safe Harbor.
